One of the most popular events in the city of Starigrad near Zadar is the Winnetou festival, to which many international fans of this Karl May epic flock. The reason for this lies in the area and the city itself which served as some of the backdrops for the filming of Winnetou. Among some of the other places related to the film, you can visit the Motel Alan which was used by the film crew as their headquarters during the shooting of the films.
